All Regions of North America (As Annual)

Standing Cypress Ipomopsis Rubra is a sturdy, upright biennial variety native to the southeastern portion of the United States. The brilliant red, tubular flowers are marginally spaced throughout the entire length of the spike. The leaves are finely divided making this variety easy to identify when not in bloom. The plant creates a blaze of color when its spectacular towers of bright red 1 inch trumpets bloom. The fiery color is irresistible to hummingbirds that flock to it in search of nectar. It fits nicely into meadows, mass plantings, and native gardens where it will add a pop of color to the back.

Standing Cypress Ipomopsis Rubra thrives in any good garden soil, but it does equally as well in sandy ground and needs little, if any, extra water from the hose. No pest or disease seems to bother this plant. The spring planted seedlings don not mind cold winters, even without any protection. The plant is highly popular as cut flowers, often lasting a week or more. The Standing Cypress is a n excellent variety to attract hummingbirds and butterflies to the garden. The plant is drought tolerant once it becomes established, and it may reseed and grow in following years.
